Maryville R-II School District is soliciting proposals from parties interested in providing services for orientation and mobility, particularly training for students with visual impairment. The needed contracted time may fluctuate given the nature of student need and proficiency of the provider. Qualifications: 1. Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) 2. Professional liability insurance 3. If selected as a provider, the contractor must complete a criminal background check for satisfactory district review. Services: 1. Provide orientation and mobility instruction/training, including any assessments, consultations, and lesson planning necessary to deliver aforementioned instruction/training to students with visual impairments. 2. Recommend appropriate materials and experiences for students with visual impairments. 3. Attend meetings as needed and at the request of the district. 4. Work with Maryville R-II staff to coordinate reports, plans, and information. 5. Provide services on days, times, and locations designated by district administration based on students’ Individualized Education Plans and follow the district calendar. 6. Maintain student records and keep information confidential as required by state and federal law and local district policy. |
